I absolutely love Dianne Duvall’s Immortal Guardians series. I’ve been a fan of this paranormal series for several years, and it always sits atop my list of paranormal recommendations. Book #9 in Duvall’s Immortal Guardians series is all about Seth. Seth is the leader of our beloved immortal guardians. His origin has been shrouded in mystery, and his true identity has been kept under wraps with only a few little clues here and there. Well, Death of Darkness spills all the tea, and it is a whopper! We learn all about his lineage, his powers (whoa, he’s been holding back!), and his love. We’ve known for a while that Seth had a wife and child that he loved dearly back in the day, and we also know their death closed the door on Seth ever having love in his life again. And then Leah shows up, and all bets are off. Try as he might to avoid his growing attraction this brave, smart, older woman who also gave up on love when she lost her husband and child, the pull is simply too great. Almost, dare I say, fated.
We’ve always known of Seth’s ability to love unconditionally, the way he feels for his guardian family has been on display for the last eight books. He feels what they feel just as a parent feels for a beloved child. This story and its intense suspense, high dramatic turns at the hands of unrepentant bad guys, breathtaking reveals, and smoking hot sexual chemistry is just what we long time fans have longed for from Seth’s story. The larger story arc of the series presses on, which makes my Immortal Guardian loving heart happy, but Seth and Leah’s HEA is hard-earned and oh so beautiful.
