One of the best things about the internet is that there’s a community for everything, and anyone can stumble into them. You can follow a YouTube suggested video hole and wind up watching hours of custom doll repainting or historical dress recreation or blacksmithing. Finding those communities always feels a little magical to me, like I’m leaning over the wall of the Secret Garden’s titular secret garden with a pair of old-fashioned spyglasses.
Y’all, did you know there’s a cowboy Instagram? Because I did not, until I got ahold of Kate Pearce’s The Rancher’s Redemption. This swoon-worthy new novel had me all kinds of excited to learn more about the world of hot cowboys. This is my latest secret internet garden, and it’s a very pretty one, and I’m here to share it with you.
In no particular order, here are seven hot cowboys to bless your Instagram feed, with my personally selected favorite picture. Also, because of who I am as a person, they are paired with the deadly sin they most make me feel.
Jess Lockwood: Envy
If you go entirely by his Instagram feed, Jess Lockwood seems to have two loves in this world: rodeo and his wife. Which works out, because his wife also does rodeo. Seriously, for those among us who would like cowgirls also in our feeds, go check out Hailey Kinsel.
Jess’ ridiculously gorgeous pictures with his wife and their shared passion place him firmly in Envy-town for me.
Keyshawn Whitehorse: Gluttony
It’s the smile. I don’t know. There’s something in that smile that sparks every gluttonous instinct, largely metaphorical. I can’t get enough of it or the energy behind it. I just want to keep devouring that smile until I’ve, y’know, devoured the entire universe!
Derek Kolbaba: Wrath
I wouldn’t say that Derek makes me feel Wrathful. It’s just that he does these great facial expressions that make me feel ready to ride into battle with him. Look at him. That calm. That composure. That righteous fire behind the eyes asking you release your mightiest battle cry and witness him.
Dalton Kasel: Greed
Dalton may have been the hardest one for me to place. This picture, though, is the one that made me think, “Ah, yes. Greed.” This picture fills me with a consuming need to be part of that moment. I want to feel and experience what he’s feeling and experiencing. I want to grab him up and say, “Take me with you! Take me into your world!”
Rubens Barbosa Bill: Pride
That’s not even his fence, actually. It’s in Australia. But the way he poses with that fence says, “I could have built this fence. You don’t know. I could definitely fix it, anyway. I’m very powerful, and a cowboy, and I know fences.” That’s something worthy of Pride, I think.
Austin Whitmore: Sloth
Austin’s pictures make me think, “Yeah, his career means a lot to him and he works hard, but we could totally spend a Sloth-y weekend on the farm? Ranch? Just watching movies or, I don’t know, hanging out with a horse. The things cowboys do, probably.”
He also has a load of pictures with his nieces that completely melt my heart.
Ezekiel “Blue” Mitchell: Lust
We need to talk about Ezekiel.
You knew it was coming. Someone had to take Lust. Ezekiel “Blue” Mitchell is the one where, upon my first browse through this list, I immediately sent links from his Instagram to multiple group chats. We all need to just accept it. He’s a ridiculously beautiful human being.
Also, sorry not sorry, absolutely sneaking in a bonus picture of him because THIS IS TOO ADORABLE.
Honorable Mention: Adam Miller from The Rancher’s Redemption
If Adam Miller had an Instagram, you can bet I’d be stalking his page nonstop. Adam is all kinds of swoon-worthy. I mean, calloused hands, rough voice, scruffy jaw…does it get any hotter? I can just see all of the adorable fake (so they claim) relationship photos between him and Lizzie. Is there anything cuter than a childhood friends second-chance romance?
