May’s Goddess: Scarlett O’Hara, Gone With the Wind, Margaret Mitchell
Gone With The Wind

In May, the cosmos are telling us that you don’t have to start out perfect. A heroine of her own story doesn’t need to be witty and smart and beautiful yet seemingly hidden in plain sight until the right person comes along and sees her for who she really is. Like Scarlett, we can be flawed and redeem ourselves; make mistakes, learn and grow from them. Happiness hard won is all the sweeter for the struggle.

The month begins with some difficult times, so be prepared for a bit of struggle. With Mercury in Aries the past month, you’ve been able to think on your feet. That may slow down as the planet of communication moves into Taurus, finding stability but tending to get stuck on the details. Look out when Venus gets into a scrap with retrograding Saturn on May 7th. If things are not going your way, you’re going to feel all the feels and very alone in all of it. Remember that to struggle is to be human, and love yourself through it all. Duck again on May 9, when Venus dances briefly with Jupiter, giving hope but perhaps some false optimism, and then angrily squares Pluto, the planet of power and transformation, causing power struggles.

If the first 10 days of May sound like rough going for harmonious and balanced relationships, you’re right, but then May 15 sees the beginning of your chance at redemption. The planet of romance shifts into one of her homebases, Taurus, for four weeks, bringing some much-needed peace to love and even finances. Yet Mars goes into Cancer the same day, bringing war-like vibes to some touchy subjects for you and making you more sensitive.

With the Full Moon in Scorpio on Saturday the 18th, we’re given another chance at a fresh start. This moon can give you the energy and momentum to transform a negative situation into a positive. There’s a high note for your social life when the sun and Mercury move into Gemini on the 21st. Get out and mingle, flirt and show off your hard won self-assurance.
