[Note from Frolic: We’re so excited to have author Teri Wilson back today! Her latest fashion pairings come from none other than the inauguration. Take it away, Teri!]

We’re still reeling from the amazing fashion on display at the presidential inauguration. The jewel tones! Amanda Gorman’s headband! Lady Gaga’s ball gown skirt! We loved it all. But the biggest fashion stars of the inauguration were all the fabulous coats, so how much fun would it be to match some of our faves with coordinating romance novel covers? Here we go. Let freedom fashionably ring…

Vice President Kamala Harris and Recipe for Persuasion by Sonali Dev

To honor VP Harris’s stunning purple coat by American designers Christopher John Rogers and Sergio Hudson, as well as her South Asian heritage, we’ve paired her inaugural look with Recipe for Persuasion by Sonali Dev. This modern take on a Jane Austen classic is the second in Dev’s enchanting romcom series, The Rajes.

First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert

Ahh, we see you and your pretty blue sparkles, Dr. Biden! According to Markarian, the label that designed this lovely ensemble, the various shades of blue in velvet, tweed, silk and chiffon were meant to symbolize “trust, confidence and stability.” We’ve paired this true blue look with Talia Hibbert’s upcoming Act Your Age, Eve Brown, the third installment in her uber-popular Brown Sisters series.

Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman and How to Catch a Queen by Alyssa Cole

We are captivated by this amazingly talented and poised young woman! So naturally, we’ve paired her sunny yellow Prada coat with Alyssa Cole’s  How to Catch a Queen. Because as the youngest inaugural poet in America’s history, Gorman is a queen in her own right.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama and The Bashful Bride by Vanessa Riley

Michelle Obama always looks incredible, but her inaugural outfit was next-level amazing. I’m pretty sure I heard the entire internet collectively gasp out loud when she walked out in front of the Capitol building. Her showstopping plum ensemble is a perfect match with the cover of The Bashful Bride by Vanessa Riley by Vanessa Riley. Sooo lush!

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Love at First by Kate Clayborn

How gorgeous is this rich purple color?? Nothing goes better with Hillary’s vibrant scarf and pantsuit than Kate Clayborn’s highly anticipated Love at First, the follow-up to her smash hit Love Lettering. Coming February 23! We’re counting the days.

Former First Lady Laura Bush and The Path to Sunshine Cove by RaeAnne Thayne

The periwinkle hue of Laura Bush’s coat was charmingly sweet, just like the cover of RaeAnne Thayne’s upcoming The Path to Sunshine Cove by RaeAnne Thayne, due out March 30. Get ready…this book will seriously tug at your heartstrings. We have a feeling that Laura, who leads a namesake foundation benefiting libraries and literacy, would love it.

Senator Bernie Sanders with Real Men Knit by Kwana Jackson

Y’all, I couldn’t help myself. I had to include Bernie. Although, let’s be real, the coat wasn’t exactly the centerpiece of Bernie’s highly meme-able look. His ensemble has taken the internet by storm, and it’s ALL ABOUT THOSE MITTENS. I seriously want some. They look so cozy and warm, and I just love that they were handcrafted by Jen Ellis, a teacher in Vermont. I think we can all agree that the only possible match for Bernie and his hand-knitted masterpieces is Real Men Knit by Kwana Jackson.
