Recently, I’ve been running more, and that means I need some good music to listen to! Recently, I’ve gotten back into Against the Current, one of my favorite pop punk bands. Their albums are so catchy and set the perfect pace for running or working on an intense scene. Today, I’ve paired five of my favorite Against the Current songs with books they remind me of.

Demons and Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

Hush, Hush was one of my favorite books when I was younger and I’m planning on rereading it soon! I’m obsessed with Patch and Nora, and how their love story is both fiery and sweet. This song is the same, full of rich vocals and softer moments that are perfect for a cooldown.

Forget Me Now and Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Daisy Jones and the Six ruined my life in the best way possible. Forget Me Now is a song about fame and watching the one you love from afar, and it’s my favorite song off of Against The Current’s album In Our Bones. If you love the music scene, you’ll love both this song and this book.

I Like the Way and Hani and Ishu’s Guide to Fake Dating by Adiba Jaigirdar

When this book showed up at my door, I squealed! If you, like me, adore the idea of a bisexual fake dating book, this is the title for you. When Ishu and Hani start fake dating, they come to realize that their feelings could be very real. This reminds me of I Like the Way, the sweet and punk-y song on Past Lives.

That Won’t Save Us and Unwind by Neal Shusterman

I cannot describe how in love I am with all of Neal Shusterman’s books, especially this series. When Connor and Risa are condemned to be “Unwound,” they go on the run together. Their romantic chemistry is off the charts, and it only gets better throughout the series. Unfortunately, it’ll take more than their connection to save them from the villains hunting them down.

Almost Forgot and Don’t You Forget About Me by Mhairi McFarlane

Did someone say second chance romance? If so, you’ll love Don’t You Forget About Me. A cute bartender, a dog, and lots of complicated history? Yes, please. Throw on this song when you’re feeling nostalgic and dance it out.
